A sixth Memphis police officer has been relieved of duty following the beating and death of Tyre Nichols. Following the release of footage of the brutal beating and arrest of Tyre Nichols — who died several days later — officer Preston Hemphill was relieved of duty, Memphis police spokeswoman Karen Rudolph said. I want to start this column with two cold, hard, indisputable truths about the murder of Tyre Nichols . These are incontrovertible statements of fact. First, 29-year-old Tyre was killed by a despicable mob of shamefully inhumane police brutes. Second, the five cops who beat him to death were all black like him so the motive for their appalling conduct was self-evidently not racism. Despite this, many high-profile black people have raced to blame white people for what happened in a way that is as ridiculous as it’s disingenuous. The state cannabis agency is continuing to push for a Harlem cannabis dispensary that a local business group has rallied against. A Manhattan Community Board 10 hearing on a proposed cannabis dispensary at 248 West 125th St. on Thursday night provided a forum for members of the state Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) and Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) to engage with a group of residents and business owners who say that the location on the neighborhood’s thoroughfare is not the right place for its first marijuana shop. The funeral Mass for longtime Bishop of the Diocese of Rochester Matthew Clark will take place at noon Monday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, with Cardinal Timothy Dolan officiating. Clark died last week at age 85. A public visitation was held Sunday afternoon and was followed by Evening Prayers. Burial in the Bishops Crypt at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery will immediately follow the funeral Mass. Clark led Rochester’s Roman Catholic diocese for 33 years before he retired as bishop in September 2012. Just 41 years old when he was installed before 10,000 rapt onlookers in the Community War Memorial arena in 1979, he was the second-youngest bishop in the United States. His newest show, Shrinking — which he co-created and stars in alongside Harrison Ford , Jessica Williams , and Luke Tennie — follows Segel as Jimmy, a therapist trying a more hands-on approach to his profession after his wife suddenly dies in a car accident. At the Apple TV+ show’s premiere in Los Angeles on January 26, Segel couldn’t get into details on the vintage Ford Bronco that Jimmy drives through the first season but promises the car will return. “There’s a backstory behind the car that I actually cannot give away; it’s a plot point in season two,” Segel explained to Vulture. “I drive a vintage Bronco in real life, so that’s how it started.” While Shrinking has yet to be confirmed for a second season, you can take a ride to the two episodes currently streaming on Apple TV+.
